Wonderful exercise to get out the brain through the tactile nature of the hand and pen. Dropping into the ‘narrative state’ can slow the manic mental processing of the brain and can be powerfully self organising, allowing us to thinking in full sentences and observe connections between the topics.
My experience: This really helps clear my head and process mental chatter. I like to write with a ‘conscious stream of thought’, keeping the pen on the paper the whole time. Write and feel into whatever language flows. Recommend: Using a nice pen and pad of paper, it makes a big difference.
My suggestion: Anytime, first thing in the morning to clear the head before work. Processing hard emotions.
